12 violations against media in Syria last December

Violations against media in Syria continue regardless of the de-escalation zones deal that came into force on May 6, 2016 in 4 main Syria’s regions.
It is worth noting that the deal positively influenced the violations’ figure as the number of documented violations against media in the second half of 2017 was reduced.
The Syrian Center for Journalistic Freedoms managed to document in December 12 violations against media in Syria,10 out of the 11 violations were committed in last November while one violation was committed in last January and was documented by the Center after verifying according to the standards of documentation
Furthermore ,The continuous pressures by armed factions on media freedoms and the recurrent shelling by the regime on northern Syria form main reasons of the documented violations in December 2017.
According to The Report, Different active actors on the Syrian territory are responsible for committing the violations in December. HTS topped those responsible for violations by committing 6 violations. The regime committed 3 violations while SDF committed one.
Each of the armed faction Shabab al-Sunnahand unknown armed group is responsible for committing one violation.
The most significant violations documented in December the killing of media activist and the death of one media worker as a result of previous injury- It also documented the injury of 2 others-
The Hawar News Agency’s reporter Rizgar deniz died following injuries sustained in an attack carried out by ISIS on December 12, 2017. The attack targeted displaced from Deir Ezzor in Abu fasvillage south of Hasaka, while The Sama TV channel’s Cameraman Karam Qabisho was killed in the town of Om Harteen south of Idlib.
The number of killed media workers documented by the Center has risen to 422 since mid-March 2011.
